Ex-President Rawlings is to chair the flagship Third Africa Business Forum event slated for Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 21-25 this year, The Heritage, can report.

The annual event which is organized by an international business consultancy, Titlas Inc., under the theme, ‘Consolidating Afro-Arab Business Tiles,’ this year, seeks to provide a platform for networking between Africa and Arab Business Executives. It will also enhance and promote joint ventures between Africa and Arab investors as well as create awareness among businesses on both sides-Africa and the UAE.

Highlights of the event include Reviewing trade between Africa and the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, Opening up Africa for Arab Investors, and investment opportunities in Africa.
Topics to be discussed during the four-day event include, ‘Tackling the challenges of current global economic recession in Africa,’ ‘Economic Advantages of Cultural & Socio-Economic Similarities between Africa and Arab World,’ and ‘Africa as veritable continent of investment for foreign investors’ among others.

Benefits participants stand to derive include coming in direct contact with decision-makers from various business sectors of participating African countries and the Gulf region, establishing good and enduring business and investment contacts and getting listed in the Conference Programme Guide circulated free to all delegates for unlimited opportunity to be linked with potential business contacts.

High profile delegates expected to attend the event from both sides include, business executives, decision makers of various economic sectors from Africa/UAE Members of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Mines from Africa/UAE, and top African countries government officials.

Ex-President Rawlings as the chairman for the august event is ably supported by the Guest of Honour Shikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasmi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade. The grand hosts include, Alhaji Bashir Yuguda, Nigerian Ambassador to UAE investments with DP World port project in Djibouti and upgrade of Port of Dakar with newly built container terminal in Senegal, acquisition of the over US$1 billion Cape Town’s V &A Waterfront project by Istithmar.

In the latest of its investments in Africa, Dubai World is investing over $230 million in eight tourism, facilities in Rwanda.In less than five years, Africa has witnesses the presence of Etisalat in Tanzania, Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, Benin among others while plan is agog to register its presence in more African countries. In many of these places investors from UAE are developing projects with equity participation of both local business men and government agencies.

The UAE government has also indicated its interest to invest about $16 billion in the development of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and other infrastructural development.With this development, it becomes imperative that constant business networking is necessary to attract more investment to the continent.

Doing business with Arab World is to say open your country for terrorist. I am not a racist but let say it as it is we dont have to be naive to allow the so call Arab inverstors who are being trailed up and down by terrorist to invest in our economy it will be a disaster in the future for our security. They should stay away from Africa and be in their desert with the unhuman activities

After the otherwise ugly publicity he's earned for the himself over the past months, an attempt for image repair is desperately needed i guess. Otherwise, what has BIG got to do with a normal business summit in dubai? very funny, isn't it?
